Safe Haven Foundation was founded in 1996 to provide homeless and at-risk teenage girls with the stability and trust of a warm and caring home for as long as they needed, to finish school, work through their personal difficulties and become responsible, self-reliant adults. In 2000, the organization went from concept to reality with the opening of a facility to house up to six girls, ages 14 to 24, to provide them with as regular a home life as possible and a safe, stable place to live. This program, now renamed Haven’s Way, is recognized as one of the first programs of its kind in Canada and continues to adhere to the original mandate of providing long-term homes with stable family environments and lifetime relationships for homeless, at-risk teenage girls, empowering them to achieve self-sufficiency.

The Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter offers many programs to women, children, youth and men hurt by family violence and abuse as well as programs for men who want to change their abusive behaviours.
